Lab Policies
Printing
Free Printing is only allowed for CHASS courses
Users may print the following material on the CHASS-restricted (free) printers:
- A user-created document that is required for a CHASS course
- A CHASS course syllabus
- A resume
- A student class schedule
In all cases, only ONE (1) copy will be allowed!
All other material (including class notes, electronic reserves, research material, etc.) must be printed through WolfCopy printers only.
Students should check with a lab assistant if they are having difficulty printing documents that are allowed as defined above to the restricted (free) printers.
Due to past and continuing excesses and high volume usage, noncompliance with these rules will result in your access to the computer labs to be withdrawn. Thank you for your cooperation as we strive to maintain the current non-quota based service.
No alternative paper
Printing is only allowed on white 8.5x11" letter-sized paper. We do not allow our printers to process any alternate types of paper.
Where to Save Your Work
We ask that our users save their work to either removable media, such as a USB flash drive, a CD, or a zip disk, or to their Unity/AFS account space (K: drive). User files are deleted automatically once you log off. If you save anything to the desktop it will be gone the next time you log in!
General Lab Policies
Food and Drinks
Students can have food and drink in the lab, but the items must be covered (no open drink containers) and should not be consumed. They should also be kept away from the computers (ie in a book bag or underneath the workstation).
Installation of Software
The installation of software is strictly prohibited. We have gone to a lot of trouble to configure these machines and provide our users with as wide an array of software as we can afford. The installation of certain programs can conflict with our own networking software and render the computer unusable by other students. Anyone caught installing outside software will be ejected from the labs, and a permanent ban will be considered.
